Formation Retreats

Dominican formation provides necessary nourishment and support for our ongoing growth as Christian disciples and preachers of the Good News. The St. Mary Magdalene Dominican Laity of Raleigh offer periodic retreats for members and others interested in deepening their faith. Our special programs explore new ways to "break open the Word", making us ready to preach God's Word in our everyday lives.

If your Lay Dominican Community would be interested in speaking with one of our members about any of the retreats listed here, please email us at itsa@mindspring.com. Our community would be willing to speak, meet and/or facilitate your next retreat.

These retreat days celebrated Pentecost, Holy Trinity Sunday, and Corpus Christi. On the Saturday mornings preceding each feast day we spent time:
  • Breaking open the Sunday scriptures together seeking a deeper experience of the Gospel through sacred reading and group reflection;
  • Exploring the history of each feast and its place in Church tradition including both historical and doctrinal contexts;
  • Gathering within the Holy Breath and Fire of the Spirit anticipating a new awakening of faith in God and our relationship with Christi; and
  • Spending time each session on individual reflection and prayer.
